USB Switchblade is the outcome of community project to merge various tools and techniques that take advantage of various Microsoft Windows security vulnerabilities, the majority of which are related to USB ports.

The primary purpose of this tool is to silently recover information from Windows systems, such as password hashes, LSA secrets, IP information as well as browser history and autofill information as well as create a backdoor to the target system for later access. The tool through community development ended up creating a Frankenstein application that exposed some very serious security vulnerabilities in Windows, particulary with regards to removable media devices.

The tool takes advantage of a security hole in U3 drives that allows the creation of a virtual CD-ROM drive, whicn allows the Windows autorun feature to work (unless disabled on the target system). Even if autorun or a U3 drive is not used, the application can still be started by executing a single script on the drive.

The most damaging feature of this tool is the ability to extract the passwords hashs from the target system and load them onto the drive for later cracking through the use of Rainbow tables. The weakness of Windows LM hashes is farily well known. With this application installed on a U3 drive it would only take a few seconds for someone with malicious intent to plug in the drive to an open USB port on a system and walk away with the passwords for that system.

The application also finds browser history (for both IE and Firefox) including autofill information (exposing website passwords etc), as well as AIM and MSN Messenger passwords. It will also reveal product keys for some applications (mostly Microsoft applications).

The tool will also create a ghost admin account, which can function as a back door to the system if it is not behind a firewall.

The tool has evovled in the last month or so to include mulitple version including a way to circumvent anti-virus protection that would usually detect some of the malicious exectubles. Additional files were also added to check the vulnerabilities listing all security and patches installed to the target system, as well as another which will start a VNC service silently in the background.

This is a slimmed down version of Windows XP. It is really fast because it doesn't have a lot of the crap that usually bogs down Windows like Internet Explorer. I really don't have that great of a description for this because this is not an official M*croso*t product.

Though I have not tested it yet,but after reviewing other sites I have come to know it works really fast.

It's not a good idea to install it alongside an official copy of Windows XP. No serial is required for the install and the OS doesn't need to be activated.

Speed up Browsing:

When you connect to a web site your computer sends information back and forth. Some of this information deals with resolving the site name to an IP address, the stuff that TCP/IP really deals with, not words. This is DNS information and is used so that you will not need to ask for the site location each and every time you visit the site. Although Windows XP and Windows XP have a pretty efficient DNS cache, you can increase its overall performance by increasing its size. You can do this with the registry entries below:

4. Then click on the Advanced tab
5. Click on the error-reporting button on the bottom of the windows.
6. Select Disable error reporting.
7. Click OK

Method 1:

1. Place in windows XP CD and start your computer (it?s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable ? as it should be - and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)

2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to your cd usually it will be ?Press any key to boot from cd?

3. Begin windows Repair process.

4. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of ?pressing any key? to boot from the CD again!

5. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access to your system.

From here you can run any windows command and you?ll have full administrator access. To reset password you can use ether of two ways:

1) Run NUSRMGR.CPL to get graphical interface

2) Run Compmgmt.msc to get Computer Management console. From there use Local User and Groups->Users

Method 2:

- Open Notepad -> type "net localgroup Administrator yourusername/add" (without the quotes)
- Make the admin login to the computer -> make him to run the file -> Congrats you are admin

Remove the Recycle Bin from the Desktop

If you don't use the Recycle Bin to store deleted files , you can get rid of its desktop icon all together.

Type Regedit on run box from the start menu and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer/Desktop/NameSpace

Click on the "Recycle Bin" string in the right hand pane. Hit Del, click OK

How to Rename the Recycle Bin

To change the name of the Recycle Bin desktop icon, open Regedit and go to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

and change the name "Recycle Bin" to whatever you want.

Disable CD Autorun

1) Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC

2) Go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System.

3) Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off and modify it as you desire.

Nationwide Save Sangai Campaign

An animal found only in Manipur is the Sangai. It lives in the marshy wetland in Keibul Lamjao. Its habitat is located in the southern parts of the Loktak Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in Eastern India. It is also one of the seven Ramsar sites of international importance.The habitat of the Sangai is now protected as the Keibul Lamjao National Park.

The only floating National park in the world.

Due to habitat degradation and human activities, the deer have been extirpated from much of their historical range and now persist in small , fragmented population.At last count there were only 162 left in the national park.

The deer is currently listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species(CITES) and is considered endangered by the World Conservation Union(IUCN).

Please join the campaign and voice for the conversation of this rare and endangered species.Your valuable contribution will help in creating awareness about the need of Sangai Conservation.

2.Then on command prompt type net user(for your knowledge it will show you the number of accounts on your computer.)

Computer still running slow even after Format ?

I feel that my computer is running slow allthough it has 1.5GB of RAM, 2.0 Ghz ,core 2 Duo. So I did a reformat . Yet my computer is still slow. I think I damage my hardware. I did numbers of reseating my RAM, GPU and all but all still the same.

Guys I hv also replaced my hard disk with a new one even then I was unsuccessful.
I really don't know what is the problem as my games are running properly & my xp and vista setup were install in a normal time.
But the data transfer is very slow & booting of OS has also become very slow.

Recovering from a Hard disk failure!

At last some of my software collection comes out to be useful.Actually I was having problem with my Seagate hard disk for last few days(disk error), so I decided to go to the Seagate service center for replacement, they told me that it will take at least 7 days for replac.. as I'm a compfreak
having a day without using a computer was not possible for me.

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for its own purposes (for downloading updates etc.)

Here's how to get it back:

Click Start / Run
Type: gpedit.msc
This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Network / QOS Packet Scheduler / Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the ‘Explain’ tab:

“By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.”

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%

HOW TO INCREASE BROADBAND CONNECTION SPEED ?

While surfing I come forward to an article on increasing speed of broadband connection so I would like to share with you.

This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.
This tip is designed for increased BROADBAND speed in Windows XP while using standard Network Interface cards (NIC) that are connected to ADSL modems, or when using any directly-connected USB ADSL modem.

Step #1 - Identify the IRQ used by the NIC/USB modem

Follow these steps:

1.Open the System Information tool by running MSINFO32.EXE from the Run command.

2.Expand System Summary > Hardware Resources > IRQs.

3.Look for the listing made for your NIC (in my case - a Intel(R) PRO/100+ Management Adapter). Note the IRQ next to the specified line (in my case - IRQ21).

In case of USB modems you will first need to find the right USB device used by your modem. Follow these steps:

1.Open the Device Manager tool by running DEVMGMT.MSC from the Run command (or by right-clicking My Computer > Hardware tab > Device Manager button).

2.Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.

3.Right-click the USB Root Hub and select Properties. Note that you might need to do so for all listed USB Root hubs (if there are more than one) in order to find the right one.

4.In the Power tab, look for your USB ADSL modem.

5.In the Resources tab look for the assigned IRQ (in this case - IRQ21).

6.This is the IRQ we're looking for.

Lamer note: IRQs and modem names might vary...

Step #2 - Modify the system.ini file

Follow these steps:

1.Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command.

2.Expand the system.ini file window.

3.Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh].

4.Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type

IrqX=4096

where X is the designated IRQ number we found in step #1, in my case it's IRQ21.

Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!

5.Click on the File menu, then choose Save.

6.Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.

Done. Speed improvement will be noticed after the computer reboots.

Run game, Enable console from options menu, Press ~ to bring up console

-Type "seta thereisacow 1337" and then "spdevmap " or go to the map you want from the menu, but it will not work if you resume game

-For mapname, put the name of the map you want to load with cheats

-Type the following options you want in the console:

noclip - lets you fly and go through walls

ufo - same as noclip?

give - gives you an item. put all for all weapons

god - invincibility

demigod - god mode but your screen still shakes

notarget - enemies can't see you

give ammo - refill ammo

jump_height - change gravity

timescale - slow motion or chipmunk mode

cg_LaserForceOn - laser sight on any gun

r_fullbright - way easier to see stuff this way :)

cg_drawGun - Get rid of your gun

cg_fov - lets you zoom with any gun

I almost lost my songs collection if I'm not able to find out EASEUS.A great recovery software I really mean that , total size of my songs collection was around 1.5GB and I was able to recover them after running EASEUS.
Easy to use,it searches your hard disk & find out the list of changes occur (even the shift + del files) & u can recover them.
But one think u have to keep in mind ,that if you restart your computer just after deletion any data recovery software will not be able to help you.
